Vinya d’en Jep is a single vineyard wine from the La Salada estate in the Penedès region of Catalonia. Toni Garrido is one of the pioneers of the natural wine movement, working biodynamically and restoring old vineyards. This wine is made from 100% rare local Sumoll grapes (sometimes mixed with Mandó), harvested from a single, specific field. The wine is produced in a completely natural way: fermented spontaneously, unfiltered and without any added sulfites.
The taste? The wine is dry, refreshing, and very lively. The Sumoll grape has high acidity, so the wine is not heavy. It is dominated by tart red berry (cranberry, cherry) notes, complemented by aromas of spices (pepper) and herbs (rosemary). It is an energetic, juicy and mineral red wine.
How to serve? Serve slightly chilled (around 14–16 °C). It is a perfect gastronomic wine. Pair it with pizza, meat snacks (smoked sausages), pasta or roasted poultry.
