About winemakers

Partida Creus is a winery located in Catalonia, Spain that was established in 2001 by Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerona. They are recognized as pioneers of natural wine and are committed to reviving old vines of indigenous grape varieties. Sustainability is a top priority for them, and they achieve this by avoiding the use of pesticides and hand harvesting their grapes with the help of animals. They practice minimal intervention in the cellar, and fermentation takes place in steel tanks. Partida Creus is a testament to the power of natural wine, regional grape varieties, and the beauty of sustainable viticulture.

Description

It’s a late harvest of Bobal grapes that come from very old, ungrafted vines in Manchuela. The grapes are fermented and macerated in a mixture of barrels and steel. Due to the high sugar levels in the grapes, the yeasts are overpowered, resulting in a luscious and sweet wine that still boasts a wonderful high acidity. A long maturation in old wood allows an oxidative note to creep in, giving the wine a sherry-like aroma. However, the palate is still full of deep red fruits and wild herbs.
