Partida Creus are pioneers of natural wine in Catalonia, reviving old local grape varieties. SM stands for Sumoll, a rare local grape variety grown in biodynamic vineyards. The uniqueness of this wine lies in its production method: carbonic maceration (whole bunches fermented in closed tanks) is used to extract maximum fruitiness and reduce the sharpness characteristic of this grape. The wine is bottled naturally, unfiltered and without any added sulfites.
The taste? The wine is dry, incredibly juicy and refreshing (this is not a heavy red wine!). It is dominated by bright red berries (cranberries, sour cherries, raspberries). There is a characteristic aroma of Sumoll spices (pepper) and herbs (rosemary). It is an energetic wine with refreshing acidity and soft tannins.
How to serve? Be sure to serve it slightly chilled (around 14 °C). It is the perfect “glou-glou” (easy-drinking) wine, ideal with pizza, meat snacks (dried sausages), pasta, or roasted poultry.
