Description

Stanko Radikon (and now his son Saša) are among the world’s leading producers of natural and orange wine. Slatnik comes from Oslavija, in the Friuli region, where the grapes are grown biodynamically. It is a blend of Chardonnay (80%) and Friulan (20%) grapes. The wine is made in the same way as the red: the grape juice is macerated (stored) with the skins for about 10-14 days in oak vats. This gives it color, structure and incredible complexity. The wine is then aged in large oak barrels.

Taste? The wine is dry, powerful and very complex. It is dominated by notes of dried apricots, peaches, roasted nuts and honey. Due to contact with the skins, it has a clearly perceptible texture (tannins reminiscent of tea) and a long, dry, mineral and salty aftertaste. It is a wine that changes in the glass with every sip.

How to serve? Important: Don’t serve it too cold! The best temperature is 12-15°C (like a light red wine). Due to its structure, this is an incredible gastronomic wine. Pair it with mature cheeses, fatty fish, poultry or even veal dishes.
