Savagnin

“Domaine de la Pinte is one of the most historic and important farms in the Jura region, certified biodynamic (Demeter). This wine is 100% Savagnin, the most iconic grape of the region. The name “Sous Voile” (lit. “under the veil”) refers to the unique production method: the wine is aged in oak barrels that are not completely filled. This creates a natural layer of yeast (veil) on the surface of the wine, which protects the wine from excessive oxidation and gives it an absolutely unique character.

Taste? The wine is dry, powerful and incredibly complex. It is not a fruity wine – it is nutty. It is dominated by notes of walnuts, almonds, green apples and spices (e.g. curry, turmeric). The aftertaste is incredibly long, with a fantastic minerality and saltiness typical of the Jura region.

How to serve? Serve slightly chilled (around 12-14°C) to reveal its complexity (don’t drink it too cold!). This is a serious gastronomic wine. It goes perfectly with classic Jura Comté cheese, chicken dishes with cream and mushroom sauce or even spicy Asian dishes.”
