Description

Rosso dei Sesi is a red wine from the Abbazia San Giorgio family farm on the island of Pantelleria, which operates according to biodynamic principles. This wine is made from 100% local Perricone grapes (called Pignatello in the local dialect), grown on volcanic soil. The grapes are fermented spontaneously with the skins for about 15 days and aged for 18 months in steel tanks, with some aged in chestnut barrels. The wine is bottled without added sulfites to preserve the authenticity of the terroir.

The taste? The wine is dry, juicy, and medium-bodied. It is dominated by bright red berries (cherries, strawberries), herbs (rosemary, thyme), and earthy/salty notes. Due to the salinity and volcanic soil of Pantelleria, it is unusually mineral and has a firm but soft tannin structure.

How to serve? Serve slightly chilled (around 16–17 °C). This is an excellent gastronomic wine. Pair with braised or roasted white meat, rich first courses, or aged cheeses.
