As the name suggests, Red Velvet is an incredibly smooth and easy-to-drink natural red wine. It comes from the organic Mersel vineyards in Lebanon. It is a blend of Cinsault (90%) and Syrah (10%) grapes. The secret to the wine’s smoothness is carbonic maceration (whole bunches fermented in closed tanks), which allows for maximum fruitiness and reduces tannin harshness. The wine is made naturally, without additives and with minimal intervention.
The taste? The wine is dry, incredibly juicy and velvety smooth. It is dominated by ripe red berries (strawberries, raspberries, cherries), complemented by light aromas of spices (cinnamon) and flowers (lilacs). It is an energetic, easy-to-drink wine (“glou-glou”) with barely noticeable tannins and a refreshing finish.
How to serve? Be sure to serve it slightly chilled (around 14 °C). It is a perfect wine to drink on its own or with pizza, light snacks, meat pâtés, or roasted poultry.
