La Rural is a wine project started by two brothers, Xavi and Andreu Padró, in the town of Santes Creus, Catalonia in 2018. They aim to produce wines without any additives, highlighting the diverse terroir of their plots. They cultivate single variety and single plot wines using only indigenous grapes. The project’s story is closely linked with the Royal Monastery of Santes Creus, which once owned the land that the brothers now cultivate. They work in harmony with nature to cultivate the land, and their commitment to environmental stewardship has earned them the ecological certification (CCPAE) in 2015. The La Rural wine cellar is located in the basement of their family home, where they use fiberglass containers, stainless steel, demijohns, and barrels to craft wines without any additives or filtration. The wines are fermented spontaneously using indigenous yeasts that are present in their vineyards. Each bottle of La Rural wine tells a story of purity, shaped by the landscape, history, and the passion of Xavi and Andreu.
I have noted the presence of yellow fruits such as peaches, pears, and oranges along with the fragrance of aromatic herbs.
