Lustro

Lustro (lit. “Shine”) is a powerful, mature orange wine from the Abbazia San Giorgio estate, located on the volcanic island of Pantelleria (Sicily). The wine is made from 100% aromatic Zibibbo grapes, grown organically in harsh conditions. This wine is a profound experiment: it is macerated (kept with the skins) for about 30 days and aged for a long time in old oak barrels. The wine is bottled unfiltered and without added sulfites.

The taste? The wine is dry, powerful, and has an incredible structure. It is dominated by notes of dried apricots, salted caramel, honey, and ginger. Due to the long contact with the skins and aging, it has a firm tannin structure (like red wine) and a long, deep, volcanic minerality and saltiness.

How to serve? Important: Serve not too cold (around 12–14 °C). Decanting is recommended. This is a serious gastronomic wine. Pair with aged cheeses, fatty fish, lamb, or even spiced Asian dishes.
