“In 1976, Giorgio Mariotti created a unique type of wine called “”wines of the sands”” using varieties like the Fortana grape and Uva d’Oro, which grow in the sandy coastal soils of Ferrara. Today, his son Mirco Mariotti continues the legacy of crafting these exquisite wines.
Mirco has inherited his father’s passion for winemaking and has preserved the area’s traditional methods while also introducing new innovations. He carefully tends to the vineyards, which are like living archives, showcasing a variety of strains that are over a hundred years old.
The Mariotti experience is not just about sipping wine, but immersing oneself in the legacy of the Ferrara sands, shaped by the Adriatic breeze and the passion of a devoted winemaker. Mirco weaves tales of the region into every bottle, creating wines that resonate with the soul of the area.”
The harvest is strictly carried out by hand and it normally takes place during the first decade of September. Grapes are softly pressed and the fermentation is done at a low temperature to add more elegant aromas. During the following 6 months, the wine is treated with the battonage technique, which involves stirring up the fine lees periodically in order to gain a richer flavor complexity. Bottle aging for 3 months, prior to the selling of the product.
