Heya Farha (Arabic for “joy”) is a totally unique natural drink from Lebanon. It’s a wine project by two friends, Michelle and Claudine, to celebrate natural wine and women’s work. Farha is a coferment, in which local Lebanese Merwah grapes were fermented together with local apple varieties. It is a perfect balance between wine and cider, made without any additives and with minimal intervention.
The taste? The drink is dry, refreshing, and incredibly crisp. It combines the best qualities of both worlds: Merwah grapes provide floral and stony fruit (peach) notes and minerality, while apples add bright acidity, freshness, and a light cider spice. The finish is clean, lively, and very refreshing.
How to serve? Serve well chilled (around 6–8 °C) as an aperitif. It is an excellent drink to whet the appetite. It pairs perfectly with Lebanese mezze, cheese platters (especially goat cheese) or roasted poultry.
