Description

Porta del Vento (literally “Wind Door”) is a unique vineyard located high in the mountains (600 m above sea level) near Palermo, Sicily. The wind is so important here that it gave the farm its name – it naturally cools the grapes and protects them from disease. It is a biodynamic farm, and this wine is made from 100% local Catarratto grapes. The wine is fermented with natural yeasts and aged in concrete tanks to maintain the pure character of the grape.

Taste? The wine is dry, crisp and incredibly refreshing. It is dominated by citrus fruits (lemon peel, grapefruit) and white peach notes. Due to the windy climate and sandy soil, the wine has a fantastic minerality and a salty aftertaste – it’s like tasting the Mediterranean air.

How to serve? Serve very well chilled (around 8-10°C) in a wine glass. It is the perfect aperitif. Its saltiness and freshness make it ideal with seafood, grilled fish, light pasta (e.g. with pesto) or vegetable appetizers.
