Arbois Pupillin Melon a Queue Rouge
4 in stock
Discover one of the rarest secrets of the Jura region! This wine comes from the biodynamic (Demeter) Domaine de la Pinte farm, from the specific village of Pupillin. Its uniqueness is the Melon à Queue Rouge grape (lit. “Melon with a red tail”). It is not a melon – it is an old, rare Chardonnay variety (clone) whose stem (queue) turns red as the grape ripens. The wine is produced naturally and matured in large oak barrels to maintain freshness and complexity.
Taste? The wine is dry, powerful and very mineral. It is dominated by yellow apples and citrus peel, complemented by subtle notes of nuts (almonds) and toast. Due to this specific clone, it often has a higher concentration and a longer aftertaste than a regular Chardonnay.
How to serve? Serve chilled (around 10-12 °C). “This is a serious gastronomic wine. It is ideal with seafood (e.g. scallops), grilled fish, poultry dishes or, of course, Comté cheese from the Jura region.
