Description

Aldo Viola is one of Sicily’s natural wine masters, working biodynamically near the town of Alcamo. The wine “Angelo” is a tribute to his son Angelo. It is an orange wine made from 100% local Catarratto grapes. The wine is produced using an archaic method: it is macerated (aged) with the skins to obtain an amber color and a unique aroma. The wine is bottled unfiltered and without any added sulfites.

The taste? The wine is dry, complex, and incredibly aromatic. Its aroma is surprising – it is reminiscent of espresso macchiato, with notes of roasted coffee and milk! The taste also has notes of dried apricots, orange peel, and Mediterranean herbs. Due to maceration, it has a firm texture (tannins are noticeable) and a long, deep, salty-mineral aftertaste.

How to serve? Important: Serve not too cold (around 12-14 °C) to reveal its unique coffee aroma. This is a serious gastronomic wine. Pair with aged cheeses, fatty fish, poultry or even scallops (capesante).
