Alessandro Viola (not to be confused with his nearby brother Aldo Viola) is a natural winemaker based in region of Alcamo, close to Palermo in Sicily. His refined whites are truly spectacular, with Catarratto and Grillo his specialities, but don’t miss his wonderful Spumante Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine… which is perhaps the finest fizz in Sicily The wines of Alessandro Viola are quite different to his brother Aldo Viola, partly due to a different style but also as the soil types are somewhat different being based on the other side of Alcamo. Popular wines include Note di Bianco, Le Mie Origini, Oxid Aging and Sinfonia di Bianco.
“Notes of Red” is a blend of the indigenous Nero d’Avola and the non-indigenous Syrah. It’s fruity, crunchy, and spicy. The winemaking process is completely natural, and includes the phrase “Senza Solfiti Aggiunti” which means no added sulphites. It’s aged in chestnut barrels, classic for the reds of Sicily.
